Despite its location, there is no evidence that this structure ever had any connection with the railway. It has nonetheless been included in the list of SCRCA structures because:
- it lies within the boundaries of the SCRCA;
- it can be glimpsed from passing trains; and
- it is old. (It is shown on the relevant Midland Railway contract plan and 19th century maps indicate that a lime kiln existed on this site long before the railway was constructed).
